It's 3:03 am Friday morning, here in Cincinnati, Ohio. I (Galen) am standing at my desk in the studio finishing up last minute details before leaving for San Diego tomorrow. Because we could only get a flight on this day (July 24th) at 4:00pm, Jerry Mairose and I will be leaving one day ahead of the other mission team members. Jerry and I are both members of the Cincinnati State Spanish Club and are looking forward to the week ahead. This marks my 4th or 5th year to the Baja Peninsula. The climate here is HOT, the wind (many times) is non existent. The people are poor and the water is undrinkable. But the people we serve love God and are excited about their lives and the time we spend together. We are only one team among others that work with this church in Camalu. While here, we will use our time and energy doing construction, conducting bible classes for adults, teens and kids, administering dental/medical needs, sharing in acts of benevolence and simply strengthening friendships with people who love us as much as we have come to love them. The young minister (JUAN JOSE) and his wife FLOR, are our contacts, and the people guiding our work. Our job is to assist them in the work God has called them to do.The posts below this one are from 2008. Dear Galen, be sure of my daily prayers and intercession.
Be blessed abundantly for " walking in the works God has prepared in advance."
Among other things I pray fervently that the joy of Jesus Christ will dwell within you and brighten your days in Mexico.Sorry,Samuel forgot to inform me about your call-I knew that our last talk before you set off for Mexico would be the last one indeed before your flight.I´m anticipating to hearing your voice again after coming back from Mexico.
Love,
Elizabeth
