On the way and the first day

Well, the trip began a bit unconventionally. Jerry Mairose and I arrived at the Dayton airport 2 hours ahead and ended up waiting 4 hours later for a flight that didn´t leave until approximately 8pm. (it was supposed to leave at 4) Apparently, the plane would not receive fuel. A coupling was cracked on the wing where fuel is normally received and began spraying fuel all over the outside gate area. After that was cleaned up, they began fueling from the top of the wing and we boarded. We sat on the tarmack for about 40 minutes while the computers were reset. Once in the air, we made it Denver where we had two gate changes and eventually took off and landed in San Diego at 2am. (11pm California time)
We met with Kim Wilson (a fellow team member) who had been waiting on us for a few hours. She arranged for our hotel rooms for the night, then we went to Denny´s for a bite to eat. After an hour or so, we came back to the hotel and slept like Rip Van Winkles. Early Saturday morning I awoke and went for a walk, got a hair cut, bought some Alka Selzer and found out that this year´s Comic-con was going on (http://www.comic-con.org/cci/ Man, I wish I had one more day in San Diego.
When I arrived back at the hotel, Jerry and I ate a continential breakfast and chatted wtih Danshuk, our hotel host while Kim slept in. Once Kim woke up, she and Jerry took a walk to see a bit of San Diego, while I took a shower. After that, it was time to get to the airport.

Danshuk dropped us off at the airport around 12ish and there we met up with David Miller, and the rest of the crew. Clint, Matt, Cheryl, Josephine, Jason and Drew were already at ¨The City of Children¨Children´s home, in Ensenada waiting for us to pick them up.

Our Driver (Vick) a self proclaimed convert to Bhudism and airplane pilot was probably the hightlight for David and me. We sat behind him on the bus and were thoroughly entertained. We drove for about 40 minutes then crossed the boarder into Mexico with on problems and then stopped off at a nice little burger joint called THE IN AND OUT BURGER. Just use your imagination as to why they are called ÍN AND OUT ' burgers... lol

One hour later we were on our way. We arrived at the City of Children about Three-thirty and then left around 4 oclock. Our teams consists of 26 members. 11 males and 15 females. We have 3 and a half translators (i am the half) - it´s gonna be a great time. ç

Today - Sunday morning began with an early wake up and breakfast. The Church service was great as always... the children welcomed us with open arms- Ricky Grant is once again the celebrity of the group... but he has stiff competion from Jenna Nauman her all girl posse who are equally as popular with the little boys.

Jason Couch is here at the local INTERNET CAFE to pick me up so i gotta run. I will write more later.
God Bless you.
