Day Six - cont.

GALEN -
Ok, it is 11:13 pm here in beautiful San Diego. We are at the Hampton Inn Hotel. David and Patrick just returned from the Padre's / Giant's game. Ricky and I were already in the room watching some mindless tv and bonding like old men and young men often do {the old guy tries to say a bunch of smart stuff and the young guy humors him by pretending that he is really listening and growing from the boring conversation} Works for me...

Last night (Thursday) we said our goodbyes to our friends (and family) in Camalu Mexico. Juan Jose, his beautiful wife Flor, their children Samuel, Denzel, and Cassandra hugged us and sent us off to the hotel with everyone wishing they didn't have to go. Ricky Grant caused a little girl (Cassandra) to litterally do flips and flops on the floor of the church to express her undying love for him. Samuel and Denzel captured the hearts and minds of every female on this trip. Those little boys are so very well behaved and can pretty much melt even the hardest heart with a smile.

Angel Luis (the little boy in the picture below on Ricky's back) is for me the face of Camalu. I am sure that there are days when he is not a happy little boy, but I never saw him without a smile on his face this year or last year until the time we pulled away for the last day. Ricky said several times that he was sad and hopes to return to the little city of Camalu during his Christmas break this year. I know one little boy and girl who will be very happy if this happens.

Last night's dinner was prepared by Flor and her friends. It was Tortillas I believe...The reason I say "I believe", is because I didn't eat last night.
1. Because I wasn't hungry. 2. Because I spent most of Wednesday and Thursday making signs for the church that I finshed this morning. They weren't much to write home about, but I'm not writing home exactly - right? I'm writing the world.

We were up very early this morning and drove over to the church, where the vans were washed and then we headed off to Ensenada. I was the driver of the lead van ('nuf said) I will leave that open for one of the other people to elaborate on. Suffice to say...The ride was exciting.

We reached the boarder by 3:30 and were back in the U.S. by 4:00.
This evening, Michelle, her girls (Sara and Kim) Jenna, Ruth and Hannah and I walked down to this really nice touristy area to grab a bite to eat and take in some of the sites. We got to see this really cool (but strange) fire juggler man. I am sure you will get to hear much more about our trip from others later. When I get to a computer that will allow me to adjust the size of pictures I have, I will upload more images. Because we were so busy this past week and were in an area where internet connections are slower than "kept" political campaign promises, I just didn't have time to upload more.

It has been a great pleasure keeping this blog. I encourage my friends to write more
because it is impossible for one person to capture or express all the good things that occurred on this trip.
