Day 7 (for real)

This is Patrick here, and I felt like I should let everyone know what happened on day 7 (Friday, day 6 would actually be Thursday) in Ensenada. Galen and I started out innocently enough, heading into the touristy part of town looking for some grub. After walking no more than 2 blocks we are accosted by a very friendly mexican man who assures us that the taco stand (nombre: Las Margaritas) by which we are standing is in fact the best restaurant ever in history. While his antics didn't surprise me, what did surprise me was Galen's reaction: he actually talked to the guy, and so we end up sitting there for lunch. Needless to say, this gentleman then runs about town sending all manner of "businessmen" our way. We did NOT pay either of the strolling guitarrists to play us a song.

Then, after we leave the lunch (and I must give credit here, the fish tacos were downright tasty, and only $1 apiece), a young girl comes up to us trying to sell bracelets and Chiclets-style gum. 1 guess as to who gave her a dollar for that 25 cent pack of gum.

The best part of the excursion is really a "you-had-to-be-there" kind of moment, but since this is the Internet I'm going to tell you anyway. We walked into a coffee-shop/ice cream parlor and Galen asks the girl behind the counter if they sell large bags of un-ground coffee beans. After realizing that she doesn't spreken ze English well enough to comprende, Galen attempts to repeat the request in Espanol. He might as well have been wearing a clown costume and asking her if they sold fake flowers that would squirt people in the face, because the look of confusion on her face sent both of us out of there laughing.

I felt I should add some personal stories about Galen to this blog because he did such a swell job helping everyone keep track of us for the week. Galen, I love you, please don't be mad!!!

Vieweres of Patrick's comments - this is the type of commentary that could only be offered by Patrick. His quick, dry and clarity of wit is only matched by his Christian authenticity. No worries Patrick - you told the truth and you told it much funnier than I could have ever (or would ever) have communicated. (just glad you didn't tell them about my song request of the Spanish guitarists or the unique cigarette sign we saw)

Thanks Patrick, it sounded rather Galenesque. Wish I could have been there!
