Day Five

GALEN - It is Wednesday evening and that makes it the fifth day of service here in Mexico. Yesterday we built a lot, we administered a lot of medical attention and today was more of the same. In fact it was Wayyyyy more of the same. The Newberg group that accompanied us to Camalu came by today with no less than 20 very eager and capable people. While we ate a great breakfast (Thanks Josephine) of Crispy Bacon, eggs over hard, and American Cheese on a muffin, they pulled off a medical setup that was nothing shy of ¨military¨ style efficiency.

The Clinic time was from 8 - 4 and was a complete success. Today I also was asked to do some signage for the communion table (in Spanish) and that was another complete success. Tomorrow we will create a sign for the outside of the church.

Today Clint rose early to take Matt (his son) back to Tiajuana. In his absense David became the foreman over the finishing of the roof. From what I was told, that too was very successful. This evening Jason taught the teen class, Laura taught the ladies class, Patrick taught the men´s class and the girls (lead by Kelsie) handled the children. I think that out of all of the classes taught tonight, Laura must have had the bar set the highest because she followed Bev. Last night Bev taught her whole class IN SPANISH. Now that is an achievement.

So far, this trip to Mexico has been a blessing not only to the people we came to serve but to all of us. The teamwork, the bible studies, the devotionals, the friendships, the genuine love shared and the atmosphere has been what I think most people wish they could experience daily. We have accomplished most of our goals, but I know that if we could, we´d only wish for more money, time, and opportunities to do more.

Tomorrow (Thursday) is our last day here. We leave early Friday morning for San Diego. I will go on from there to San Jose, California and the rest of my friends will take afternoon flights back to Ohio. I will try to add more pictures and at least one more update to the blog, but I wanted to say that this has been a very profitable time. If any of you reading this ever wanted an opportunity to do this...don´t wait. Start saving and let people who might support you or donate for supplies, food, clothing and medicine, know of your interests. This is worth more than a college education - I´ve been to college, and I can tell you that I will remember what has happened here much more than anything I learned in a stuffy classroom.
